Responsible Consumption Disclaimer

Legal Age Requirement: Speakeasy is intended solely for individuals of legal drinking age in their respective jurisdiction (21 years of age or older in the United States). By accessing this site or using the application, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Speakeasy provides beverage recipes, ingredient ratios, historical notes, and estimated alcohol by volume (ABV) for informational and entertainment purposes only. Calculations for dilution, ABV, and proof are mathematical estimates and should never be used as a measure of physical impairment, blood alcohol concentration, or fitness to operate motor vehicles or heavy machinery.

Always enjoy responsibly and never drink and drive. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol misuse, assistance is available through resources such as SAMHSA’s National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using or visiting Speakeasy at speakeasy.ryanmarch.me, or by installing the web application, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any portion of these terms, you must discontinue your use of the service.

2. License & Permitted Use

Speakeasy grants you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to access the cocktail library, record personal backbar inventory, plan event menus, and create custom drink formulas for personal and professional bartending reference.

3. User Recipes & Shared Links

When you create custom cocktail recipes, formulas, or tasting notes, they remain your own property stored locally on your device. If you elect to generate a public share link, you grant Speakeasy permission to store a read-only snapshot on our database to allow your recipients to render and save that recipe.

4. Warranty Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

Speakeasy is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Under no circumstances will Ryan March or any contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use this software.

Privacy Policy

Speakeasy was architected on a foundation of privacy-by-design and data minimization. We believe the tools you use in your home or behind the bar should respect your privacy.

1. Local-First Storage (Guest Mode)

When you use Speakeasy without signing in, 100% of your data (favorite recipes, personal inventory, custom cocktails, notes, and menus) remains strictly in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This data is never sent to our servers.

2. Optional Cloud Synchronization

If you choose to sync your collection across devices, you may register using a passwordless email verification code (OTP). We store only:

Your email address (solely for authenticating your sign-in sessions)
Your synchronized bar inventories and custom recipes
Your drink pouring history log (if enabled)

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your email or personal cocktail library with advertisers or third parties.

3. Privacy-Preserving Telemetry

To understand which cocktail recipes are popular and resolve broken search terms, Speakeasy collects minimal, non-identifying telemetry events (e.g. recipe page views, coarse device class like mobile or desktop, and anonymous search queries).

We do not track or log IP addresses in our telemetry database.
We do not load third-party ad pixels, social trackers, or behavioral analytics cookies.
Telemetry events are never linked to your personal email or account ID.

Data Rights, Export & Account Deletion

You have complete authority over your bar data:

Full JSON Export: You can download a complete backup of all custom recipes, backbar bottles, and saved menus directly in your browser anytime from the Settings page.
Permanent Account Deletion: If you created a cloud account, you can permanently delete your entire profile, bar inventories, and synchronized records immediately from the Settings page. This action permanently purges your records from the database and cannot be undone.
